Solar Swimming Pool Heating |
|
Warm Climates (no freezing temperatures): use all glass water in tube solar heater panels. One 50-tube panel works for a typical home pool, more panels for larger pools. Circulate the pool water directly in the solar collector panel. Either use the existing pool pump and manually control pool water circulating in the solar pool heater, or purchase an electronic controller.
Cold Climates (temperatures below freezing): use high pressure copper u-tube solar panels. Five 12-tube panels work for a typical home indoor pool; more for larger pools, colder locations or cloudy climates. Either use glycol with a heat exchanger or your choice of freeze protection- high pressure, drain back or a backup heater with controller. Glycol is the most safe option for cold places.
Follow instructions here for more precise calculations of number of panels. |
